How it works
This is an illustration of a standard typical south facing active solar system.

The controller in the illustration constantly monitors the temperature in both the cylinder and the panels. When the temperature in the panels is higher than that of the cylinder it will automatically activate the circulating pump and transfer the collected heat from the panels down to the cylinder in the same way that the boiler would.
